ISLAND INSPIRATION
Encompassing more
than 10,000 square feet of living space, the
home features an adapted South Pacific-style
design of seven octagonal pods--each a
specific and well-proportioned room.
Connecting balconies, generous overhangs,
and a wood roof further enhance the South
Sea Island ambience. Green riverbed
stones from Bali accent the walkways and
sheath the stilt columns that support the
house; the exacting process of applying the
stones required four Indonesian craftsmen
and nine months to complete. The
residence is custom-finished with exotic
woods, including Honduran mahogany for the
windows and exterior doors, southern pine
for the roof frame, Indonesian Kampor for
the hand-carved exterior decking, and
Brazilian mahogany for the bedroom floors.
